Six months to one year is enough. Beyond that, expectations begin to accumulate, and small disagreements multiply and exhaust people before they have even begun married life.

Sister, the right period depends on both people's circumstances. But from what I have seen, very long engagements often end before the wedding.

Here in Bahrain, we say that an engagement is not a waiting station; it is a period for building. If you do not learn to understand each other during it, marriage will be harder.

I think a short engagement can be useful because it reduces the chance of disagreements developing simply because the engagement stretches on.
