Ask him about the biggest conflict he has faced and how he resolved it. Whether he answers honestly or avoids the question will tell you what you need to know.

Ask about his expectations for married life, his view of women working and how children should be raised. Those three questions reveal a great deal.

Look at his relationship with his family and how he treats people younger than him or with less status. That reveals his character more clearly than any direct question.

Tell him early that you would not accept sharing a home with his family. How he responds to that request and whether he respects it will tell you much about his character.
